Bridal Party gift ideas

It’s not totally clear when bridal party gifts became a thing and really they aren’t even necessary, but it can be a nice gesture as a thank you for all the time (and let’s face it, money) your close friends will spend helping with the wedding. We wanted to highlight a few of our favorite ideas if it’s something you would like to do. We have certainly seen everything from small tokens of appreciation to giant gift baskets, choose whatever feels right to you, there are no rules here! On to the fun part…

Sentimental

Let’s start with the hand-written note, always appreciated and meaningful. If you want to mix it up, attach it to or place it inside something - your favorite book, bottle of wine or a special treat.

Win-Win

We’re calling this a ‘win-win’ because these gifts serve two purposes - being worn the day of the wedding to match and as something the wedding party can keep. For the bridesmaids it’s typically some kind of jewelry and for the groomsmen it might be something like socks or their ties. It could also be something used while getting ready and be in those photos, like robes (ladies) or flasks (guys). This could even include things like paying for manicures or hair/makeup, which aren’t necessary, but a fun treat.

Get personal

We feel like this one should come with a warning: you don’t need to go crazy personalizing everything, feel free to get the same gifts, just minus the monogram or name. It can be a fun touch to add, but it’s not necessary and definitely not always worth the cost. Some items we like for this are a travel mug/tumbler, luggage tag (LOL travel) or tote bag. Also our advice: don’t make it super wedding-y (your wedding date, bridesmaid dress motif etc). Think about something they would actually want to use and keep around!

Practical

Otherwise known and a win-win-win, these gifts are also pretty useful the day of the wedding and sometimes long after. We hate to say this, but probably at the top of the list this year because #covid, are masks. Non-pandemic-related gifts could be a wrap for your bridesmaids for an outdoor evening reception, cute flats/sandals (to give the ladies a break from heels) or umbrellas if it might rain.

Of course none of this is necessary, just some fun ideas if you’d like to treat the wedding party to something special!
